Second Cinema continues on…

Second Cinema fans…changes are coming…

As many of you know, our lovely and talented host Hilary Russo will be heading north to take New York City by storm. Hilary is one of the most talented people we’ve ever met and we love her to death. She has been an amazing host, a motivational and inspiring colleague, and most of all, a dear friend. She will be sorely missed here in North Carolina, but we wish her a lifetime of joy and happiness as she conquers NYC and the fantastic journey we call life.

Her last episode on Carolina 24 is the current October episode with Andre Gower, Cinema Overdrive, and Silent Forest, although that’s not the last “Second Cinema” you’ll see with her at the helm, no sir…an interview with Duke Film Studies professor, Negar Mottahedeh should hit the website next week, and we hope to continue to working with Hilary in some capacity via packs from New York…the opportunities are truly endless and we hope that she can still contribute to show.

Hilary’s last Carolina 24 episode also happens to be Second Cinema’s last Carolina 24 appearance…that said…we aren’t going anywhere. We will still be operating the show, in actually a more frequent fashion, online at http://secondcinema.com, Blip.tv, iTunes, Facebook , and on Twitter. If you’re reading this, there sooo much more coming!

Unfortunately the channel has decided to disappear as of November, but we want, and hopefully you’ll want, Second Cinema to live on. We’ve talked with numerous people about this and we feel that this project, which started almost seven years ago, has finally picked up enough steam to propel itself forward, even without a tv channel. We will still be conducting interviews, screening your films, visiting film festivals, promoting film festivals, and producing segments that help promote North Carolina filmmakers. One thing that will be new to the sites, is that we plan on expanding SC to also include podcast interviews with director, filmmakers, and actors from around the country. We have a few opportunities getting lined up as I type, so we think this will also be a great opportunity to spread the word on independent film in the Carolinas.

Josh, Hilary and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support and promotion of Second Cinema throughout the seven years of our existence on Carolina 24. . We have had the distinct pleasure to speak with some amazing people from all walks of cinema and screen some fantastic short films, trailers, music videos, and clips, from some outstanding filmmakers around the region. We could not, and would not, be in existence with out you and we truly appreciate it…so thank you.

Please pass along this information to you friends and colleagues and know that we need you now more than ever. If you are in film…send us your work, let’s do an interview, let’s cover your event, let’s help spread the word about you, your film, and film in North Carolina. We know that most of you follow us online and screen Second Cinema via the web…this is our chance to make that leap together and make Second Cinema bigger and better. If you’d like to be on the show…and we hope you will…please contact at: secondcinema@gmail.com

Thank you for your love, support, and encouragement over the years…let’s keep Second Cinema alive!

Matt & Josh
