More info:
Internet comedy/music sensations Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal have been friends since meeting in first grade in Ms. Locklear’s class. In 2006, they decided to search for her relying solely on face-to-face contact with people. During the summer of 2006, they decided to search for their beloved teacher. They chose not to use the internet or the telephone, but instead to rely on face-to-face contact with people. Looking for Ms. Locklear is a documentary chronicling their search, which led them far from home and into the company of a host of characters. The movie prominently features the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, as their search led us to the center of Lumbee culture, Pembroke, NC. Filled with humor and heart, “Looking for Ms. Locklear” is the recipient of the 2008 Southern Lens Award from South Carolina Public Television and Audience Award of the Secret City & Ace Film Festivals.
From their studio in Lillington, NC, Rhett & Link have developed an international following through their collection of over 200 web videos. Their music videos, local commercials, and sketches have been seen over 25 million times, and have been featured on CNN, BBC, Fox News, NPR and TV Guide.
Music is an important part of nearly everything Rhett & Link produce. The duo has written close to 100 original comedy songs and independently released 4 albums. Many of Rhett & Link’s songs have been the source for wildly popular web music videos, like “the Facebook Song,” “the Unicorn Rap,” and “the American Idol Theme Song.” Rhett and Link will be present January 29th for a post screening discussion and perform a few songs.
